'I'm going to marry an ang-moh'

Recently, lots of people ask me about my plans after Masters. For the first few days, I told them about my plan- study, find a job for a year or two, then come back for good.

But now, things have changed. I'm kinda fed up of answering the questions. People tell me to work overseas, get a PR then settle down in UK. Some of them told me to come back and take over my Dad's business. One dumb-ass Aunty even told me to fail my papers a few times so I can stay back in the UK longer. *faint*

So when people ask me what's my plan, I tell them:
I'm going back with a single ticket, study, then get marry to an ang-moh and settle down in UK.

Voila! That kept their mouths shut and everybody laughs at it! Fantastic!

Ramblings of a Driver

I've been driving since I'm home. Since then I've been cursing the selfish road users when I'm driving.

If killing is not an offence, I'd kill the selfish motorcyclists first. Some of them seem to be brainless. Some act as if they own the whole darn road. Some motorcyclists just dash out from the T-junction, often giving me a heart attack. Damn!

I realised some drivers are selfish. They're often on the rush and won't stop for a second to give way to other drivers. I don't mean to brag, but when I was in North Wales, drivers always stopped to give way to other road users, be it pedastrians or other drivers. When the traffic light turned orange, they slowed down and came to a complete stop when the traffic light turned red.

Yesterday, I nearly got into accidents because some truck driver decided to just come out from the junction when I was driving to the left lane. I nearly knocked down a cyclist who crossed the road without looking to the right. ^#*$*(%(#^!!!

I'm not trying to say I'm the perfect driver who never make any mistakes. I'm just pissed when the others act like an idiot on the road. Why can't they behave properly on the road?

I'm still getting used to the way people drive here. I'm always in fear when I drive. I'm always worried I'll get into an accident when I drive. *touch wood touch wood*

I think I should go to the temple to pray. :P

Dato'. So what?

This happened when I was on the KL-KB flight.

I went in pretty early and sat on my seat- 5D. I looked at the people as I waited for the plane to take off. Suddenly, I spotted this man. I know him because he's a family friend of mine and he's also a well-known property developer in KB. I was surprised to see him because a man like him normally flies Business Class. He is well known (at least, in my family) as a man who places his pride over everything else. As he walked to his seat, 2 seats away from me, I called him Dato' but he didn't hear me. Fine.

Before take off, he called the air-steward.
Dato': Bang, bang. Oi, bang.
When the air stewart turned around, Dato' handed him his hand luggage and thanked him.

I was trying to catch a wink when I heard more interesting conversation, in Kelantan dialect. The Dato' was talking to the lady sitting in between both of us.
D: Waiting list, waiting list.
L: (no response)
D: I booked in front (Business class) but fully booked. I was supposed to go home tomorrow but finished work today.
L: (quiet)
D: Where are you working?
L: Hotel.
D: You don't know me? I'm Dato' XXX (name of his company. The Kelantanse call him like that)
L: Ohh... heard of your name but don't know you in person.
D: Lots of project, deh.
L: yaya.

Silence...

We finally touched down. I took my hand luggage and let the other passengers who were queuing up go first. The Dato' got impatient. I heard him saying 'Oi, go lah, ki leh (go lah, in Hokkien).

I turned back, looked at him and said 'Tan seng leh' (wait first ler) and walked off.

I was surprised at how rude I was. But then again, if he didn't respect me, why should I respect him? so what if you're a Dato'? You're still a human being, just like all of us.

As I walking out to the terminal building, I heard him telling people 'Waiting list, waiting list'.

So what if a Dato' flies Economy Class? Is that a disgrace? I don't think so.

The Long Journey Back Home

I'm finally home. :)

Home sweet home...

Everything's fine at home. Only 3 things I dislike about being home: the weather, the dial-up and the mosquitoes. After 3 days of staying at home, I finally got 3 mosquito bites today. They must have missed my blood. Being on dial-up means I'm not in the mood to blog most of the time. It doesn't help when my laptop is infected with some virus and I have to use Mom's PC to blog. She's still using Windows ME, Pentium 3 and that moody PC hangs whenever she feels like it. :S

I got what I wanted the moment I reached KB- big, fat crabs, cooked the way I wanted. Yummy yummy! Daddy didn't join us because he had a function to attend but my aunt's family joined us. I got to see my 3 little nieces whom I haven't met in ages.

The flight from Manchester to KLIA wasn't smooth. It was bumpy most of the time, especially when we were flying across India. The weather must be bad. Although I was worried, I secretly enjoyed the bumpy flight. It made me feel like I was on the roller coaster. :P Food wise, it was bad. Dinner was some beef noodles and lunch was some beef and potatoes. When lunch was served, it was only 6 something am UK time. I didn't have any apetite for food. I opened the lid and closed it immediately. I nearly puked. I had fruits and bread and went to sleep. Nothing interesting on the screen. Didn't watch much shows because I was craving for sleep as I only had about 4 hours' sleep the night before. When I wasn't sleeping, I played games but I was so disappointed when I found out Mario was not offered. It's the only TV game I play besides tetris. :(

We touched down about 1510. An hour before that, I was offered a seat in the Business Class. :) Finally, no more cramp seats but spacious seats. It felt good. :) When we landed, I got out of the plane pretty early. Took an aerotrain and arrived at the Domestic gates. I wanted to call Mom when I arrived but I had no coins or Malaysia simcard with me. I went into one of the shops and bought an Ice Lemon Tea. I thought it costs like RM2 but when I looked at the menu, it was RM5.90! What a rip off! The cup was as big as the 'Small' cup in McD. !#$%^&**&^*&^* Got the change and called Mom.

My connecting flight to KB was at 1825. A torturous 3 hours wait. Thank God I met my tuition teacher so we killed time by chatting. Something interesting happened on the flight to KB. That will be in the next post.

When I arrived, I couldn't see my family. Had they forgotten about me? I was so worried and pissed at the same time. Teacher offered her phone to me and I called Mommy. They deliberately arrived late because they thought my luggage wouldn't be out so early. The fact was, mine was on the carousal shortly after I arrived. The anger vanished the moment I saw my family.

I just finished my lunch not long ago. The moment I finished lunch, Kakak asked me- Leen nak makan apa malam ini?

*faint*

23 hours and 53 minutes to go

As I'm typing this, I have another 23 hours and 53 minutes to go before I board the plane.

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go.

I'm leaving Bangor for good this time. I'm leaving with a heavy heart. This afternoon, I went out with my friends. We went to Newborough beach, went strawberries picking (ended up with nothing because the season is over), went to Llanfair PG and went to Parc Menai to see the swans.

It's ashame that we never went out that much throughout our years here. We were more than hi-and-bye friends but we never went out for trips like how we did today. It's ashame that I hardly appreciated the beauty of North Wales until this year. I'm in love with the scenary. It's so beautiful. No, saying it beautiful is an understatement. Newborough beach is so much prettier, so much cleaner compared to PCB. We wrote our names on the sand. We walked on the soft, sandy beach. We saw children building sand castles. We saw Terriers playing at the seashore. We were so excited when our feet were immersed in the water.

Coming this September, I'm moving to a new place. I'll be in the concrete jungle, surrounded by buildings. I don't get to drink Welsh water anymore. I don't get to breath fresh air. Everyday, I'll be breathing polluted air. Going to the beach is no longer a half an hour journey.

I told Mommy one day... When I'm rich next time, I'll buy a house near the beach in North Wales and come back here every summer. We'll see......

North Wales... You hold a special place in my heart. I'll see you again in the near future... I hope.

Count Down

Another 3 days to go.

I'm oh-so-excited!!!

I started packing today! Half of the luggage is full with presents. *prays hard that the customs won't stop me and check my luggage. Fingers crossed*

I'm going home! I'm going home! I'm going home!

The first thing I'll do when I arrive at KB airport is to give Daddy a big hug and a peck on his cheek. I really, really miss him. My family and I are going for dinner and I'm going to stuff myself silly with crabs and fish.

I only have about 6 weeks at home this time. For the past 2 years, I spent nearly 4 months at home.

Mommy has warned me not to spend so much time with friends but I'm definitely gonna meet up with my ex school/classmates and friends. You know who you are, I'll drop my contact number at your blogs and gimme a ring when you guys are having a gathering alright.

Mom has scrap the China plan due to some unforeseen circumstances. Hopefully we'll make a trip to Awana Kijal although my sis is so against it. Boring, that girl says. Oh well, I'm the Queen this time so I get to choose. :P

Brother, you better make it to the Masters so I can go to KL and shop okie! :P

Gonna cut my hair short this time although Mom tells me not to. She thinks my hair grows too slow. It's bra length now and I'm going to chop it because I won't be cutting my hair for the next 12 months or so. We shall see who wins. If I trim mine, Mom wins and if I get to cut it short, I win!

A whole lot of visitings to do.

6 weeks sounds too short!

The Ideal Sunday

If only all Sundays are like this...

  • Picked strawberries with Joey and Kelvin
  • Day out at Llandudno- the beach, the sun, the funfair
  • Chicken pie and fish cake shared by the 3 of us
  • A game of Monopoly with J and K; shouting at K when we realised he was on the path to victory
  • Dinner with 4 other friends

Sounds simple... but it was definitely one of the best Sundays I've ever spent.

=)
